A Bug in a Book review by Angela Hall.
Riley and the Grumpy Wombat is the 4th book in the gorgeous Riley series, have you discovered it yet? I adore this series, there is so much to gain from Riley’s fun adventures in his little red plane. In this adventure Riley is on his was around Melbourne our city of culture and arts. He is on the hunt for one grumpy little wombat. If you were a wombat where would you hide? And why is she so grumpy?
Soaring through Bourke Street Mall, Riley scanned every nook and cranny with his exceptional wombat-seeking telescopes. No Wombat.
Riley’s former adventures:
- Riley and the Sleeping Dragon – A Journey around Beijing
- Riley and the Dancing Lion – A Journey Around Hong Kong
- Riley and the Curious Koala – A Journey Around Sydney
- and due to arrive in 2012 Riley and the Jumpy Kangaroo – A Journey Around Canberra.
Why do I love Riley’s adventures so much? Well, it is not just because Riley is such a sweetie, I love the way Riley explores and teaches us about the city he happens to be in. The illustrations are wonderful; a delightful mix of photographs and cartoons (these books would be great to bring along on a trip to any of these places). Riley teaches us about the animal he is hunting for as well, be it panda or wombat, Riley is a curious boy and doesn’t only want to know where but also why. Riley is fun! A typical lad, likes to be knee-deep in mud and throwing around a ball or playing with his friends. Guaranteed to get your child’s imagination fizzing. Riley has an amazing box of contraptions to help him on his adventures as well, you never know what he will pull out of that box! Riley adventures are great value, buy one and you won’t be able to resist the rest of the set, might even inspire mum and dad to take a holiday.
