What an exquisite set of our books! Any child would love to have these in their collection; they can be purchased individually or in a boxed set in October with a cloth case and jacket- a real heritage presentation.
Each story represents a tale about an Australian animal and their first encounter with the ‘uprights’ – the first European settlers . What I adore about Wil Wombat is the use of old Australian words like ‘put the Billy on’ and damper’. The illustrations are wonderful and at the back of each book is a section on that animal and the attempt by the early Europeans to draw and paint our animals to send back to Europe. I have to say their attempt at drawing a kangaroo is not the same as the kangaroo! These wonderful set of books would make a great Christmas present and a percentage of all proceeds will go to the RSPCA.
