This is an exquisite story about Willbee the Bumblebee who has lost his hum. Being late in the day his jersey gets torn causing him to lose his hum and he becomes cold and alone, all he wants to do is to get back home. Monica the butterfly helps Willbee; his jersey was the one his mother had knitted him. So she gathers up all the wool and takes it to Stevie the spider. He weaves all the wool that unraveled and makes him a new jersey! I love that the animals all have names and the illustrations are vibrant and big! It is a wonderful read and children will love this story especially the word ‘bum’ used in it. Willbee gets back his hum, hugs Monica and asks her to thank spider Stevie and goes back home to his sunny yard wearing his new yellow and black jersey! It’s a giggle. A novel addition is the CD and toy that accompanies this book. The CD is catchy and tells the story, kids can sing along. The toy of Willbee is well made bright and colourful and soft with no dangerous edges. This boxed set would make a wonderful Christmas gift for any child. I would recommend Willbee the Bumblebee for 0-5 year olds. Scholastic publishers are on a winner with this one.
