The story of one family’s voyage on the Titanic.
When you are about to embark on a story about the Titanic you know that it will have its fill of sadness and tragedy. This is true, however Forget Me Not is more than that. The beauty of a well written and researched historical story is that one can step back in time and view the world from a different era. I really enjoyed “being there” when it all happened from the safety of my home. The characters are rich with life and though I tried not to love them too much for fear of a broken heart it was a futile attempt. Get to know the Gilmore family, you will not be disappointed.
The voyage of the Titanic is an amazing piece of history, it contains an incredible assortment of characters from all works of life, classes, backgrounds and personal stories. It must have been hard for Sue Lawson to not keep writing all the amazing facts she learned while researching for this book.
Forget Me Not is perfect for middle graders and with the anniversary of the tragedy it is the perfect time to take the journey, feel the anxiety, taste the salty sea air and inhale the chilling winds.
To go into the draw to win a copy of Forget Me Not write the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the tragic Titanic voyage in the comments below.
