This is a great book and I am a huge Gary Crew fan. Again, in his writing, Dr Crew encourages an interest in history and also explores the theme of racial understanding. The book takes up the story of a 14 year old boy (Jack Ireland) who survives head hunters in the Torres Strait and finally returns to England, his country of birth. There are many layers in this book and I am including a link to teaching notes because readers might like to use them to reflect on the novel when they have finished.
