Another wonderful book by Phil Cummings and Andrew McLean’s illustrations provide an excellent accompaniment to the text. The book is about an Australian country bush fire and three children who seek shelter in a cave called Everdell. Despite its setting and reference to snakes the book uses medieval metaphors. The fire is the dragon. There is a castle, jousting and swords and of course the knights who fight the dragon and rescue the children. A great book.
